About

Thor G. Draper Jr

Sales leadership, technical depth, and a habit of building.

This blog is my drafting ground and working library. It's where I test ideas, document principles, and leave a record of how I think and where I'm headed.

Current chapter: Senior Security Solution Engineer at Microsoft, serving U.S. healthcare and life sciences.

The Work Behind the Path

I led more than 40 people at Enterprise with P&L responsibility, sold payroll and technology solutions, and owned and sold a fitness business. Those chapters taught me to build trust, develop people, and take responsibility for business performance.

I invested deliberately in technical depth through cloud and cybersecurity study, hands-on infrastructure work, and critical incident support in Azure Rapid Response. Teaching cybersecurity to career-changers sharpened my ability to make hard problems understandable. Today, I bring that technical grounding and commercial judgment into discovery and security architecture discussions.

I'm building toward executive leadership in technology and security, with responsibility for people, commercial outcomes, and the systems those outcomes depend on.

What Drives Me

Word of the YearVelocity

Every morning starts with a journal entry under this word. For me, velocity means sharpening focus, cutting drag, and keeping momentum toward the work that matters most.

Technology Change With Consequence

I care most about the moments when new technology stops being a novelty and starts changing how teams operate, decide, and take responsibility.

Enablement as Force Multiplier

The best work scales through other people. I build playbooks, workshops, and hands-on labs that help teams move faster without losing clarity.

Beyond the Keyboard

Experimenting with AI tools and automation to eliminate the repetitive and make room for the meaningful

Road-trip cafe hunter. Jaspers' Ottos Cache remains the gold standard

Daily journaling habit and strategic financial planning to fuel future chapters

Let's Connect

I am always open to conversations about technology strategy, AI, enablement, non-traditional career paths, or what makes a great cafe worth the detour.
